During my time at the Fort Worth Report, I had the opportunity to produce audio spots and features for KERA News, the local North Texas NPR affiliate station. I’ve also co-hosted a 30-minute live segment for CUNY’s Audio Files.

The Bronx Documentary Center, located in the South Bronx in New York City, is a nonprofit which trains middle and high school students from the community in documentary work. For many of the attending students, the center has become a second home and even a safe space. Produced for the Fundamentals of Video Reporting at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism.

A city-based nonprofit is working to bridge the social gap. Nearly three out of four adults over 50 in the United States want to age in place. But for many, staying at home brings an unintended consequence: isolation. In 2024, one in three older Americans reported feeling lonely either sometimes or often. In New York City, a grassroots response is helping tackle this issue. Lifeforce in Later Years, a nonprofit based in Manhattan, is working to bridge that social gap, matching older adults with volunteers across Morningside Heights and West Harlem in an effort to reduce loneliness and foster connection.

Ghassan Sawalhi is a multifaceted artist. He raps. He sings. He produces music and he’s a percussionist with a classical Arabic music band. How do all of these various art forms translate into his identity as a Palestinian artist?
