The Bronx Documentary Center, located in the South Bronx in New York City, is a nonprofit that trains middle and high school students from the community in documentary work. For many of the attending students, the center has become a second home and even a safe space.

A city-based nonprofit is working to bridge the social gap. Nearly three out of four adults over 50 in the United States want to age in place. But for many, staying at home brings an unintended consequence: isolation. In 2024, one in three older Americans reported feeling lonely either sometimes or often. In New York City, a grassroots response is helping tackle this issue.
